YOGA NIDRA: SURFING THE WAVES, FINDING STILLNESS

Yoga Nidra supports us in how we want to feel and be present in the world. It enables us to rediscover an innate ease, wholeness and wisdom within that enriches our lives. A perfect way to begin 2021.

This six-session course offers a comprehensive introduction to the practice of iRest® Yoga Nidra.

iRest is a contemporary, evidence-based and trauma-sensitive form of yoga nidra akin to guided meditation and deep rest. It is based on perennial wisdom teachings, including the ancient non-dual teachings of meditation/yoga and traditional practices of yoga nidra.

It's accessible to all, and has been shown to support:
• Reduced fear, depression and anxiety
• Reduced insomnia and stress levels
• Reduced chronic and acute pain
• A greater ability to relax and enjoy life
• Greater harmony in relationships
• Unshakeable wellbeing, peace, resilience and purpose

Yoga nidra (sometimes translated as 'yogic sleep') invites us to awaken to our true nature and a felt sense of being awareness in daily life. Exploring our layers, the koshas, an underlying ease and peace of mind is unveiled. This sustains us amidst all the changing (and challenging) circumstances of life; surfing the waves and finding still waters, comfortable in our own skin.

In addition to yoga studios, iRest yoga nidra is currently practised in hospitals, clinics, hospices, schools, prisons, homeless shelters and the military. If you'd like to know more, please look up iRest and the research of the Integrative Restoration Institute, founded by Richard Miller, PhD.

With these six weekly online classes, you'll have the opportunity to progressively experience each stage of this method of yoga nidra together with a lovely group of yogis. An outline is provided below. In addition to audio practice recordings that you can keep forever, you'll receive a workbook (written by the Integrative Restoration Institute) to support your journey as you wish. In the practice, no effort or fixing are required; we are simply ourselves.

There's also an invitation to try a one-to-one co-meditation or dyad with Carol (at no extra cost), if you wish. This form of inquiry and support is the most powerful aspect of iRest, is only available in person, and will be explained on the course.

Carol has practised yoga nidra since the early 2000s and has trained in both a traditional method (Satyananda) and iRest (Level 2). This course will follow the iRest 10-step protocol.

Thursdays, 8-9 pm (UK). Via Zoom. Live attendance is encouraged.

What to bring:
iRest can be practised seated, lying down, standing or walking. Please bring whatever you need to be comfortable e.g. blocks/cushion, blankets, bolster, chair etc. A pen and paper/journal may be helpful.

Joining instructions:
Once you've booked, you'll receive confirmation. A private Zoom link will be emailed the day before each session. Please download the Zoom app here in advance if you don't already have it.

Just click on your link up to 5 minutes before the start time to join the class. You're welcome to have your video on or off during the classes.
